Doug Thomas, director of counterintelligence at Lockheed Martin, has said the company adopted a continuous evaluation platform to help detect attacks or threats posed by insiders, Federal News Radio reported Friday.
Emily Kopp writes Lockheed implemented its insider threat program in an effort to avoid workplace violence incidents and theft of trade secrets.
The program includes system checks, quarterly meetings of a company-formed steering committee, internal audits and employee behavior monitoring, the station reports.
“We made sure people understood that they’re threatened and the company is threatened,” Thomas told Federal News Radio in an interview.
Kopp said Thomas’ team conducts an investigation to analyze personnel and security data when the team notices that an employee exhibits strange behavior.
