The Defense Information Systems Agency has issued a request for information on cloud-based email, calendaring and associated services that are available commercially and based on industry best practices.
DISA said in a notice posted Sept. 16Â that the RFI seeks industry input to support the development and planning for the email requirement.
The program is focused on potential Defense Department email and calendaring services that are either deployed on premises or hosted in a vendor-provided data center, the notice stated.
According to DISA, the sought services will replace the currently used DoD Enterprise Email 1.0, which is an unclassified system.
Functional requirements for the planned DEE 2.0 include email storage and search, contact management, global address lists and records information management.
Service delivery requirements include service desk operations, cybersecurity, rapid provisioning, access management, migration planning, change management, service-level management, IT service continuity management and information security management.
Responses are due Oct. 15.
