Synergy Research Group reports that information technology companies generated a combined revenue of $22 billion from public cloud platforms and services during 2015’s second quarter.
The market research firm said Thursday hardware, software and data center infrastructure accounted for $10 billion of the IT industry’s quarterly public cloud revenue.
IT firms collectively sold about $12 billion in infrastructure-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service and software-as-a-service offerings during Q2, the report states.
The report also found that public cloud operators and related digital content providers comprised approximately 47 percent of the data center colocation market.
Synergy Research Group identified Cisco, Dell, Hewlett Packard, IBM and Equinix as the technology suppliers that have gained the largest public cloud revenue share in the last quarter.
Amazon Web Services, Google, IBM, Microsoft and Salesforce are the key cloud services companies mentioned in the report.
