Parsons has received a two-year, $15.4 million contract from BAE Systems to prepare preliminary designs for the modernization of the alternate nitrate ester manufacturing facility at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Virginia.
BAE said Tuesday that Parsons will enhance safety, increase operational efficiencies and prioritize environmental improvements under the award.
Jon Moretta, president of engineered systems at Parsons, commented, “This important project will add to the storied history of service with which [RFAAP] has provided our nation for more than 80 years and will help ensure the plant remains ready to support the warfighter.”
BAE Ordnance Systems Inc. has been operating RFAAP since 2012. In 2023, the BAE ordnance systems unit secured a $46.4 million contract from the U.S. Army to conduct improvement efforts at the plant.
Additionally, in April, BAE selected Hanwha Aerospace to upgrade a propellants production building at the complex.
