Darena Solutions is partnering with Leidos and SLI Compliance on an initiative that would establish a standardized procedure to vet artificial intelligence-powered healthcare applications and integrate them into electronic health record systems.
Darena said Tuesday that the verification process would be tailored to AI apps developed using the Substitutable Medical Applications and Reusable Technologies on Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources application programming interface, which enables a given piece of software to run anywhere in the healthcare system and makes it substitutable.
Leidos brings to the initiative its expertise as an Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology certification provider, as does SLI Compliance, an ONC Authorized Certification Body. SLI also offers IT testing services as an ONC Authorized Test Laboratory.
For its part, Darena will provide its MeldRx platform, which works to simplify the development, testing and deployment of apps based on SMART specifications.
Darena CEO and founder Pawan Jindal described the partnership as “a significant step” towards ensuring that AI-powered healthcare software is trustworthy, clinically beneficial and can integrate seamlessly.
