AECOM has updated a scenario-planning technology to help transit agencies determine the potential effects of travel disruptions and the resulting changes in commuting options and policies brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Mobilitics for Pandemic Response tool is designed to help agency users examine how factors such as infection rates, stay at home orders and vaccine availability affect transportation patterns, the company said Monday.
The New Jersey Transit, the Seamless Bay Area organization and the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority have started using Mobilitics to help inform service and capital planning decisions.
Lara Poloni, president of AECOM, said the tool incorporates data on regional travel demand and trip patterns to assist clients in understanding event impacts on transport operations.
