Science Applications International Corp. has landed an $84.8M contract modification to provide all-up-round torpedo equipment and support services to the U.S. Navy and the governments of Australia and Taiwan.
The award covers the fourth option year of the Naval Sea Systems Command's MK 48 Mod 7 heavyweight torpedo production efforts, the Department of Defense said Friday.
Ninety-three percent of purchases under the modification are for the Navy, 6 percent for Australia and the remaining 1 percent is for Taiwan.
DoD expects work under the exercised option to conclude by April 2023. Navy weapon procurement and FMS funds are being used for this modification and SAIC will receive all funds at the time of award.
SAIC won a $383M in September 2016 to manufacture afterbody/tailcone sections of the submarine-launched weapon as well as provide test equipment, production materials, engineering and hardware repair support.
