Mike Petters, CEO of Huntington Ingalls Industries and former Wash100 Award recipient, has said that the company transitioned over 11K employees to telework settings due to the ongoing pandemic, Inside Defense reported Friday.
Petters told attendees at a Bernstein-hosted virtual conference that HII reengineered its operations to accommodate operational alternatives, including adding more personnel to the 1K that are already teleworking.
"There were a lot of meetings that we used to have that we somehow manage to not have anymore and we still get the work done," he said. "There was a lot of travel that we did in the past."
Kathy Warden, the chairman, president and CEO of Northrop Grumman and 2020 Wash100 winner, noted at the same conference that she expects “natural changes†at the company such as limited traveling and facility needs to result from the COVID-19 crisis.
