Inmarsat Gov't Arm Places Initial Order for Orbit's Airborne Satcom Terminals - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Inmarsat‘s government subsidiary has ordered an undisclosed quantity of multirole aviation terminals from Orbit Communication Systems after the two companies reached a milestone under a co-development agreement signed in March.

Orbit will supply 46WGX Multi-Purpose Terminals that are designed work with the Global Xpress broadband service for aviation use and support Ka-band military communications platforms, Inmarsat said Thursday.

The partnership aims to offer a satellite terminal for unmanned aerial systems, military aircraft and business jets.

Inmarsat expects Orbit to deliver satellite antenna systems early next year.

Steve Gizinski, chief technology officer of Inmarsat’s government business, said the company aims to increase the availability of interoperable connectivity offerings for the government aviation sector.
