Science Applications International Corp. has opened the application period for a scholarship program meant to help military veterans access cyber education opportunities.
The CyberWarrior Scholarship program aims to develop veteran careers and address the country’s demand for cybersecurity practitioners, the company said Thursday.
SAIC will award 10 grants under the program’s current wave.
Military personnel discharged from service before Sept. 12 and National Guard or Reserve members can submit applications through Aug. 12.
Scholars will receive training classes, educational materials and exam vouchers to attain information security certifications, preparing veterans for a number of cyber careers including security analyst, engineer and auditor.
“Prolonged and targeted cyberattacks directed at national infrastructure, as well as the national defense sector and its supply chain, remain a major threat to our country,” said Alicia Lynch, SAIC chief information security officer and a retired U.S. Army colonel.
“We need more certified cybersecurity professionals to meet and defeat these constantly evolving threats.”
