Avaya, RapidSOS and 911 Secure have completed a test call that featured location-based discovery capabilities as part of a first-responder demonstration in Shelby County, Tenn.
Avaya’s IX Workplace tool and 911 Secure’s SENTRY platform pinpointed the call’s specific endpoint location from an administration building, and RapidSOS’ Clearinghouse tool enabled IX Workplace to validate the facility’s floor plan, pathways and square footage, Avaya said Thursday.
“In situations where every second counts, seamless communication can make all the difference,†said Mark Fletcher, ENP and chief architect of worldwide public safety solutions at Avaya.
“This new ability to share real-time data and collaborate with public safety significantly breaks down communication silos and enables first responders with detailed, life-saving data,†added Fletcher.
The government of Shelby County noted that it intends to deploy 911 Secure’s SENTRY service to accommodate the city’s main administration building along eight multilevel county buildings in the Memphis Area.
