Science Applications International Corp. has formed a new organization that allows teams of information technology professionals to speed up the development of new platforms and deploy the product in a matter of days or hours, Federal Times reported Wednesday.
Launched in October 2018, SAIC’s Innovation Factory aims to help IT teams meet contract requirements, compete on potential contracts and facilitate product experimentation.
“We launched this really in response to some of the major trends that we’re seeing in the federal government, and one of them is to do app modernization, but to do it rapidly in an incremental delivery fashion,†Charles Onstott, a senior vice president and chief technology officer at SAIC, told the publication in an interview.
“The other is [the Department of Defense’s] push to do more agile across DoD, agile acquisition,†Onstott added.
The company’s Innovation Factory helps accelerate product deployment through the use of automated tool sets; cloud-based delivery; emphasis on research and development; expert teams of developers; and partnerships with Red Hat, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services and other IT firms.
