Austal USA will obtain long lead-time materials needed for the construction of the U.S. Navy‘s 14th Expeditionary Fast Transport vessel under a $40.4M contract.
The company will also provide production engineering support as part of the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, the Defense Department said Monday.
Work is scheduled to be completed by July 2022 and the Navy will obligate $20M in fiscal 2019 shipbuilding and conversion funds at the time of award.
The company received a $57.8M contract in October to procure long lead-time materials for the 13 EPF.
The Navy’s EPF class of shallow draft vessels is designed to transport military personnel, supplies and equipment for intra-theater operations.
