The Department of Veterans Affairs has issued a request for information on a contractor that can help National Data Systems manage access to veterans’ health information.
A FedBizOpps notice posted Wednesday states that VA is seeking a contractor that will support NDS in distributing health data from the Veterans Health Administration to clinicians, researchers and peer and legal reviewers, the Government Accountability Office and Veteran Service Organizations, among others.
The candidate will be tasked to assess all data access requests and approvals, support the designated enterprise service desk in providing help desk assistance for managed access and keep track of data sharing agreements between VHA data owners and users that require specific data sets.
The contractor should also deliver monthly progress reports that outline all work completed during reporting periods, as well as problems that were identified and, if possible, resolved.
VA will accept responses to its RFI until Nov. 26.
NDS carries the responsibility of regulating access to VHA’s health information systems such as electronic health records, national databases and extracted datasets.
