Northrop Grumman, the mission package integrator for the U.S. Navy‘s Littoral Combat Ship program, will serve as a “captain level” sponsor to the commissioning of an 11th LCS.
The company said Thursday it provided mission modules, minehunting systems, integrated bridge and navigation equipment and an MQ-8 Fire Scout unmanned aircraft system for the USS Sioux City.
Northrop supports the LCS through the Navy’s Mission Module Design Engineering, Production and Sustainment program.
The service will hold a commissioning ceremony for the ship on Nov. 17 at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
Todd Leavitt, vice president of maritime systems at Northrop, said the company also supplied ammunition, ordnance and training and sustainment services.
