Huntington Ingalls Industries has awarded Curtiss-Wright an $85 million contract to produce main propulsion steam turbines and auxiliary equipment for installation on the U.S. Navy‘s future Enterprise (CVN 80) aircraft carrier.
Curtiss-Wright said Tuesday its EMS division is scheduled to perform engineering and production work under the contract through at least 2022.
HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding division will receive the products at its Virginia facility.
The contract marks the first award Curtiss-Wright received after it bought Siemens‘ Dresser-Rand government business through a $212.5 million cash deal that closed April 2.
Newport News Shipbuilding received a $179.9 million contract modification from the Navy earlier this month to obtain additional long-lead-time materials needed to construct the third carrier of the Gerald R. Ford class.
