A Comtech Telecommunications subsidiary has received a potential five-year, $58.9 million contract to provide its commercial modems and technical and upgrade support for the U.S. Navy.
Comtech EF Data will supply its Comtech SLM-5650B modems and related upgrade kits to support the satellite communications and interoperability of Navy platforms and shore sites, the Defense Department said Friday.
The company will also perform firmware upgrades and technical support services through March 2023 under the contract that includes five one-year ordering periods.
Funds worth $8.2 million from the service branch’s fiscal 2018 other procurement budget will be placed on the contract and cover the obligation at the time of the award.
The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command awarded the sole-source contract through a non-competitive procurement process pursuant to 10 U.S. Code 2304(c)(1).
