Symantec Obtains FedRAMP Authorization for Cloud-Based Email Security Service - top government contractors - best government contracting eventSymantec has received certification from the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program to offer a cloud-based email security service to government agencies.

Chris Townsend, vice president pf Symantec’s federal business, wrote in a blog entry posted Tuesday that the Symantec Email Security Service-Government offering works to help users protect messages delivered via Microsoft Office 365 and Exchange as well as Google‘s Gmail.

The cloud service is designed to filter approximately 99 percent of spam and block threats including ransomware, spear phishing and business email compromise.

Townsend noted the service uses detection tools such as advanced heuristics, targeted attack protection, data loss prevention and the filtering of uniform resource locators, sender reputation, malware and content.

He added the platform works to remove potentially malicious content from documents to mitigate zero-day threats.

Symantec aims to secure FedRAMP authorization for its entire cloud security portfolio.
