General Atomics has established an office in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in a move to expand its presence and technology development efforts in the region.
The company said Monday its new office in Innovate ABQ’s Lobo Rainforest building offers General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems an opportunity to connect with local contractors, entrepreneurs and laboratories.
“We’re looking forward to continuing our work with the community to strengthen existing relationships and foster new opportunities for collaboration, as we advance critical energy, directed energy, and electric weapon systems and technologies for defense applications,” said Scott Forney, president of GA-EMS.
The company aims to work with government-backed research facilities in Albuquerque such as the Sandia National Laboratories, Air Force Research Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory.
A recent GA-EMS open house event was attended by Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller as well as Sen. Martin Heinrich and Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham, both Democrats from New Mexico.
