The U.S. Navy has awarded Rockwell Collins a three-year, $13.7 million contract modification to produce a supplementary software platform for the E-2D Hawkeye Integrated Training Systems III modernization effort.
The Defense Department said Monday the company’s simulation and training solutions business will deliver an E-2D Delta Software System Configuration No. 3 baseline as part of aircraft flight and tactics trainer upgrades.
The company will help the Navy deploy the platform to a software support station, brief/debrief systems, operations centers and classrooms in Point Mugu, California, in an effort to obtain a cybersecurity authorization-to-operate status.
Rockwell Collins received a $34.2 million contract in June to build an additional E-2D training platform for the service branch.
Work under the modification will occur in Virginia and California, through December 2020.
E-2D is an early warning aircraft manufactured by Northrop Grumman and equipped with battle management, missile defense and sensor systems designed to help pilots obtain situational awareness.
