AT&T will compete to provide mobility platforms and services for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps under a potential five-year, $993.5 million contract awarded in October.
The company said Thursday it will work to support the service branches’ modernization efforts through the delivery of AT&T’s Smart Base systems and Fleet Management and Asset Management platforms.
Smart Base systems work to automate energy, water, perimeter security, transportation and lighting management systems on the base by linking the company’s network to internet-of-things-based sensors.
The company’s Fleet Management and Asset Management offerings are designed to help the services reduce costs and ensure safety across their fleets.
“This contract underscores the U.S. Navy’s commitment to modernize its forces,†said Mike Leff, vice president of defense business within AT&T’s public sector.
Leff added the governmentwide acquisition contract seeks to facilitate the procurement of technology platforms by defense and civilian agencies.
AT&T is one of the three companies that won spots on the Navy’s indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for wireless devices and services.
