BAE Systems has demonstrated its concept of an augmented reality wearable display that would integrate advanced display, tracking and sensing technologies intended for military and commercial applications.
AR glasses are designed to fit like normal glasses and feature free-space tracking tools that will work to help users view sensor video, guidance, targeting and mission data, BAEÂ said Wednesday.
Rob Merryweather, director of strategic growth at BAE’s electronic systems sector in U.K., said the company aims to transition its display technology into end products that could aid emergency responders, commercial pilots and soldiers.
The company is demonstrating the early-stage AR display at the Defence and Security Equipment International event in London as part of efforts to collect feedback from potential customers and use gathered input to finalize the design and features of the product.
BAE also plans to incorporate patented waveguide technology into the glasses.
