Amazon Web Services has launched a new cybersecurity managed service intended to help clients protect web applications against three types of distributed-denial-of-service attacks.
AWS Chief Evangelist Jeff Barr wrote in a blog post published Thursday the AWS Shield offering is designed to work alongside Elastic Load Balancing, CloudFront and Route 53 platforms.
AWS Shield consists of a standard service that is available to the company’s customers at no extra cost and an advanced service that offers additional DDoS mitigation capacity against volumetric attacks and intelligent attack detection.
Customers that avail of AWS Shield Advanced will receive 24/7 access to metrics, reports and support from the company’s DDoS response team to establish custom mitigation strategies in the event of an attack, Barr added.
