Harris Corp. has received a National Security Agency certification for the company’s military radios to support higher-throughput functions of the U.S. Navy‘s Mobile User Objective System satellites, Space News reported Tuesday.
Caleb Henry writes the Falcon 3 AN/PRC-117G backpack-sized radios will use compatibility software patch designed to facilitate the transmission and receipt of voice, video and data transmissions through the MUOS satellite constellation.
Harris CEO William Brown told investors in a Tuesday earnings call the company started to deploy the update shortly after it received the NSA certification.
Space News reports the company also plans to update its multi-channel AN/PRC-158 manpack and two-channel AN/VRC-118 Mid-tier Networking Vehicular radios to use the MUOS waveform.
