The U.S. Air Force has awarded Raytheon a $7.4 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to support the advancement of low noise infrared sensor chip assemblies for the National Strategic Space.
Raytheon will update and maintain the scientific knowledge, growth and processing characterization functions of the assemblies as part of the Focused Opportunity Reaching Toward Reliable Electro-Optic Strategic Sensors program, the Defense Department said Thursday.
Work will occur at a company facility in Goleta, California through July 10, 2019.
The Air Force Research Laboratory obligated $3.1 million in fiscal 2016 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award.
