ASRC Federal has secured a potential five-year, $35 million contract from the national environmental satellite, data and information service division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for systems engineering support to NOAA’s satellite operations facility in Alaska.
The company said Thursday its federal technical services subsidiary will perform the work under the NOAA Fairbanks Command and Data Acquisition Station Operations and Maintenance contract.
“We are extremely pleased to continue supporting satellite operations at NOAA Fairbanks,†ASRC Federal President and CEO Mark Gray said.
Gray added the company’s personnel seek to help the agency acquire meteorological and environmental data through technical services.
FCDAS supports more than 54,000 satellites annually and serves as the primary command and data acquisition facility for polar-orbiting operational environmental satellites such as the Polar Operational Environmental Satellites, Suomi-NPOESS Preparatory Project and Defense Meterological Satellite Program.
