The U.S. Navy‘s unmanned maritime systems program office and Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport Division held an industry information day to discuss the service branch’s plan to procure a new class of large-displacement unmanned undersea vehicles.
The forum drew 265 representatives from 138 companies and sought to inform interested vendors on the Large Displacement Unmanned Undersea Vehicle program, the Navy said Thursday.
“Ensuring our industry partners are aware of the acquisition opportunities in the LDUUV program will ultimately help us deliver the best products and services to support the warfighter,” said Capt. Bill Guarini, program manager of unmanned maritime systems at the Navy.
The new class will be based on a modular, open architecture intended for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and mine countermeasure missions, the service branch noted.
The Navy posted a request for information in May on FedBizOpps to collect information from potential industry sources that can support the development of an LDUUV prototype.
