A business unit of Cubic has been selected by train operating company Northern to build and install electronic gating systems at eight rail stations in Northern England.
Cubic Transportation Systems will provide 52 electronic gates designed to accept magnetic tickets and equipped with ITSO-complaint smart card and barcode readers, Cubic said Monday.
CTS has installed some of the systems at Wigan Wallgate and Liverpool Lime Street stations and is scheduled to complete installation work at the remaining six stations by the end of March 2017.
“We are proud to have been entrusted with this important contract for Northern and strengthen our foothold in the U.K. market,†said Roger Crow, executive vice president and managing director of CTS’ European operations.
Alex Hynes, Northern managing director, said the company also cooperated with Network Rail and other contractors to meet the deadline for the first two installations.
