The State Department has contracted a subsidiary of SOS International to help monitor and analyze traditional and social media in Kabul, Afghanistan in support of the U.S.’ diplomatic mission there.
Exovera will use the cloud-based media analysis software EV3 to execute the five-year contract, SOS International said Wednesday.
SOS International unveiled EV3 in 2016 and the software gathers unstructured data into a discovery engine in order to provide information to users through intuitive data visualization tools.
“Our current support of several U.S. diplomatic missions around the world requires a combination of advanced data analysis, visualization tools and multilingual human analysis to provide embassy staff with a unique perspective on cultural and political attitudes in specific regions as they relate to current U.S. policy,” said Jeremy Davis, Exovera president.
The State Department also selected Exovera in June to develop a social media analytics tool for the U.S. embassy in Iraq.
SOS International launched Exovera as a program in 2006 under a contract with the U.S. Strategic Command to help monitor global media for the Defense Department before Exovera transitioned into a separate commercial entity in 2012.
