Northrop Grumman will sponsor 80 middle school students and 48 science teachers from the U.S., Australia and the U.K.for them to attend Space Camp July 24 through July 29 at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
Space Camp will feature space shuttle missions simulations, astronaut training simulators and activities such as rocket building and launches for the students, Northrop said Friday.
The teachers will take part in the Space Camp’s Space Academy for Educators program designed to guide faculty on how to apply Science, Technology, Engineering and Math concepts to their classes.
Sandra Evers-Manly, Northrop Grumman Foundation president, said Space Camp works to inspire future innovators and pioneers and guide teachers to expand their STEM tools.
The sponsorship falls under Northrop Grumman Foundation’s K-12 initiative and has been carried out by the company for eight years now.
