A subsidiary of Siemens has worked to help the U.S. Postal Service automate the agency’s mail sorting systems within its delivery units.
Siemens Postal, Parcel & Airport Logistics integrated address-reading software into USPS’ Delivery Schemeless Sortation system in an effort to accelerate mail processing, Siemens said Monday.
The company designed its address-reading platform to automatically process the picture on mail items, compare the photo with the saved delivery maps and display the intended mailbox for a letter.
Dallas, Texas-based SPPAL maintains a portfolio of technology products and service offerings designed for mail and parcel logistics and automation as well as airport baggage and cargo handling operations.
