DigitalGlobe and Esri have reached an agreement to expand a world imagery map for Esri customers as part of an effort to help connect users through geographic information systems.
The companies aim to provide users of Esri’s ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Data Appliance products access to high-resolution satellite imagery via a multi-year subscription service, DigitalGlobe said Monday.
DigitalGlobe will update its Basemap Vivid and Basemap Metro offerings for subscribers and fresh imagery will be incorporated into the world imagery map in late 2016.
The two companies also plan to link Esri’s cloud-based mapping tool and online marketplace to DigitalGlobe’s Geospatial Big Data platform in order to help customers analyze a 15-year time-lapse image library.
