Huntington IngallsNewport News Industrial, a Huntington Ingalls Industries subsidiary, will add 52,000 square feet to its headquarters in Newport News, Virginia to support the heavy steel fabrication work for commercial nuclear power customers.

HII said Monday the facility expansion will look to create 120 new jobs and additional parking to support a projected larger workforce.

“We at Newport News Industrial are excited to see this expansion come to life because it will support our work in the nuclear power industry and support our community through job creation,” said Pete Diakun, ice president of energy programs for HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding division.

“With this expansion, NNI will be better equipped to serve its commercial and government customers in the nuclear energy space.”

The company expects the expansion to finish in the fall of 2017.
