Curtiss-Wright‘s defense business unit was selected by TORC Robotics to supply its in-house rugged gigabit Ethernet switch subsystem for installation into autonomous tele-operated unmanned ground vehicles.
The Curtiss-Wright segment provided its commercial-off-the-shelf Parvus DuraNET 20-10 Ethernet switch, which features Ethernet management, security and design functionalities to support defense and aerospace platforms, the company said Tuesday.
Lynn Bamford, Curtiss-Wright defense senior vice president and general manager, said the company looks to meet future TORC UGV program requirements and offer its product line for vehicle and aircraft applications.
Curtiss-Wright manufactured the switches at its Salt Lake City facility in Utah and delivered the units in 2015.
The small form factor DuraNET 20-10 works to aid local area network switching capacity and is designed to operate amid increased temperature, shock and vibration conditions to connect computers, cameras, sensors and command-and-control equipment on aircraft and vehicles deployed with digital networked architectures.
