A subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications Corp. has been awarded a $7 million contract from an identified foreign company to install and design multiple fixed troposcatter terminals in support of military communications between off-shore islands.
Dr. Stanton Sloane, president and CEO of Comtech, said in a press release posted Wednesday the troposcatter systems are designed to provide users low latency and beyond-line-of-sight communications backhaul capability, as well as other operational functions for flexibility and scalability.
He added that the contract helps to promote the troposcatter system as a modern military communications toolkit.
The Comtech Systems subsidiary received the contract in the fourth quarter of the company’s 2016 fiscal year.
