Melbourne, Florida-based communications equipment company Harris Corp. has raised its level of membership in the Open Geospatial Consortium technical committee member to principal member status.
Harris will participate in the OGC planning committee through explorations of technology and market trends and take part in all final approval decisions for the organization’s standards, the OGC said Tuesday.
The OGC is an international organization composed of more than 515 companies, government agencies, research organizations and universities that participate in a process to develop geospatial standards.
“(Harris) has been a member of the OGC continuously since 1996 – active in the development of open standards and related interoperability best practices in support of its customers and partners worldwide,” said Mark Reichardt, OGC president and CEO.
