Concurrent Technologies Corp. affiliate CTC Foundation will work with the Wings for Val Foundation to create “smart” challenge coins to encourage students to complete acts of service in honor of fallen servicemen and women.
CTC Foundation said Tuesday it has provided funds for the challenge coin project to help Wings for Val develop a system where coins are linked to individual webpages that students can access to enter their acts of service.
The students can subsequently pass the coins on to continue the challenge in effort to inspire acts of service from others, CTC Foundation added.
CTC’s David Covolo helped create the coin design and modifications with Patrice Cappelaere, father of the the Wings for Val Foundation’s namesake.
Wings for Val was created in 2015 to honor U.S Navy Lieutenant Valerie Cappelaere who died on Mar. 11, 2013, during a training mission in eastern Washington state.
