Northrop Team Concludes Army Black Hawk Design Review; Ike Song Comments

Northrop Grumman and several partners have completed a critical design review of the UH-60V Black Hawk helicopter as part of a program to update the rotorcraft.

The company said Monday it worked with the U.S. Army, Prototype Integration Facility and Redstone Defense Systems to assess the helicopter’s design, software architecture, technical data package, navigation system and portability of software applications.

UH-60V Black Hawk will transition to the fabrication and integration stage following the review’s completion.

“Completion of this milestone validates our approach and means that we are one major step closer to fielding advanced capabilities for the warfighter through a truly integrated cockpit solution,” said Ike Song, vice president of mission solutions at Northrop’s land and avionics C4ISR division.

Northrop will also manufacture equipment package intended to upgrade the digital cockpit of the Army’s UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters with the use of ANSYS‘ software.

The UH-60V rotorcraft is scheduled for its first flight in January 2017.
