A Siemens subsidiary and the National Park Service have deployed two solar panels at Manassas National Battlefield Park in Virginia under a $29 million Energy Savings Performance contract that Siemens’ federal business secured in 2014.
NPS said Jan. 5 that Siemens Government Technologies installed the solar array systems at the park’s ranger office building and headquarters and that it expects the solar panels to generate 65 percent of power for the two facilities.
Barbara Humpton, president and CEO of Siemens Government Technologies, said the company aims to help NPS achieve its mission to utilize renewable energy and reduce energy consumption through the partnership.
“As the largest single user of energy in the U.S., the federal government is leading by example through its commitment to improving the energy efficiency of America’s publicly-owned buildings, parks and historic sites,†Humpton added.
