House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry and Chris Kelsall, head of cyber workforce team at the U.S. Navy, have received Excellence in Cybersecurity awards from the Computing Technology Industry Association.
CompTIA said Tuesday it presents the award to U.S. lawmakers and federal program managers who promote wise use of public funds to hone the skills of cybersecurity professionals.
“Thornberry has been instrumental on Capitol Hill in pushing for increased cybersecurity training and certification within the Department of Defense community,” said Todd Thibodeaux, CompTIA president and CEO.
Kelsall is a member of the Federal Chief Information Officers Council’s information technology workforce committee and has called for expanded programs to train U.S. IT professionals to manage cyber threats, according to Thibodeaux.
CompTIA says it has around 2,000 member companies and approximately 3,000 academic and training partner organizations.
