The U.S. Missile Defense Agency and the Israel Missile Defense Organization have conducted a fourth and final interception test of the David’s Sling Weapon System built by a Raytheon–Rafael team.
MDA said Monday the platform launched a Stunner interceptor to engage several threat representative targets in real time during the demonstration at a test range in southern Israel.
Raytheon and Rafael developed the weapon with an Elbit Systems-made radar technology that works to locate ballistic missiles and large caliber rockets and send flight data to a battle management facility.
Engineers will analyze and use test data to further develop the platform as part of Israel’s multilayer defense array, MDA noted.
The industry team is scheduled to deliver an operational David’s Sling weapon system to the Israeli military next year.
