Boeing has handed a mobile satellite to the Mexican government in support of efforts to bolster the nation’s national security, civil and humanitarian programs.
Boeing and the Mexican government plan to conduct field testing for the Morelos-3 702 high-power satellite following the delivery, the company said Wednesday.
“[Mexico] has delivered on its vision to provide 3G+ voice and data services to mobile terminals that are now an integral part of the government’s communications infrastructure,” said Mark Spiwak, president of Boeing’s international satellite systems unit.
Spiwak added that Boeing will continue to provide additional support in line with the growth of Mexico’s telecommunications needs.
702HP will begin operations in 2016 under the management of Telecomunicaciones de Mexico.
