Richard Harris, a vice president at Bell Helicopter, has said a tiltrotor platform the company is developing for the U.S. Army has caught the interest of the U.S’ three other military service branches, Air Force Times reported Wednesday.
Lara Seligman writes Harris told the publication Bell is in talks with the U.S. Navy and Air Force regarding the possibility of building variants of the Army’s Future Vertical Lift helicopter by 2025.
“We think, moving forward, we may have one of those services grasp onto that and promote it ahead of the Army,” he added, the publication reports.
The Army chose a Bell-Lockheed Martin team and a Boeing–Sikorsky consortium to help create Joint Multi-Role demonstrator rotorcraft prototypes as part of the FVL development effort.
