The University of Maryland University College will host a gala Sept. 12 to raise funds in support of UMUC Foundation’s scholarships for cybersecurity students and honor key people in the field of cybersecurity.
UMUC’s 2015 Cyber Gala will feature National Intelligence Director James Clapper as keynote speaker.
The university will also present the Pioneer Award in Cybersecurity to John Hamre, president and CEO of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and the Leadership Award in Cybersecurity to Steven Shirley, executive director of the Defense Cyber Crime Center.
The 2015 Cyber Gala is a black-tie event and will be held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.
