IBM has moved to expand its storage software offerings through the addition of new cloud backup features to the company’s portfolio.
Customers will work to back up data to on-premises storage or the cloud with the new features for the IBM Spectrum Protect software, IBM said Wednesday.
IBM will release the Spectrum Protect as a VersaStack service option in the fourth quarter of 2015.
The company also added the IBM Spectrum Accelerate product to its cloud offerings in an effort to help clients deploy block storage on SoftLayer.
IBM also updated Spectrum Accelerate to consolidate storage and compute resources on the same servers.
The IBM Spectrum Accelerate offering comes with licensing across XIV systems, on- premises servers and cloud platforms.
