Raytheon has opened a $4.6 million Gloucester, England-based cyber crime prevention center in an effort to help protect computer networks.
The center will accommodate professionals across big data, analytics and network defense who will work to develop cybersecurity mitigation technologies focused on cyber and information assurance projects, Raytheon said Feb. 6.
“This is the first cyber ecosystem of its kind in the U.K. where industry, customers, partners and academia come together under one roof to solve some of the most complex cyber issues,†said Richard Daniel, Raytheon UK CEO.
Richard Graham, MP for Gloucester, added, “Cybersecurity is an increasing issue for governments and businesses around the world and there is no better time to exploit this increased cyber awareness to ensure a safer digital economy.”

Raytheon UK also unveiled a new cyber competition with total prizes of $153,623 for small to medium-sized businesses.
