A U.S.-based subsidiary of Inmarsat and Honeywell have entered into a service provider agreement to provide Inmarsat Global Xpress satellite services and wideband connectivity to the U.S. government’s aeronautical sector.
Inmarsat Government said Tuesday the agreement extends an existing partnership between the two companies in providing in-flight connectivity to the Global Xpress network.
Michael Edmonds, vice president of marketing and product management at Honeywell’s aerospace segment, said agencies will have access to hardware and services for wideband satellite connectivity from the same source through the Inmarsat-Honeywell offering.
Three new satellites scheduled for active service later this year will add further support to the Ka-band Global Xpress network, which Inmarsat says is interoperable with the U.S. military’s Wideband Global Satellite system to support airborne as well as land and naval operations.
