Peter Smith, president and CEO of American Systems, said that the company is seeking a new chief financial officer to explore acquisition and investment opportunities, the Washington Post reported Sunday.
Mohana Ravindranath writes that the new CFO will succeed Mark Danisewicz, who is set to retire this summer, and report directly to Smith.
Smith told the publication that he will work with the CFO and the company’s acquisition council to evaluate potential investment activities.
He added that American Systems also aims to continue building up its government services portfolio.
“We do intend to stay a federal contractor and follow the shifting priorities of government,” he said.
While the current government focus is on defense spending, Smith noted that American Systems is also looking at providing systems engineering or program management support for the federal energy and healthcare information technology markets.
