An IDC report says the integrated platforms and infrastructure industry generated $2.4 billion in revenues in the second quarter of 2014, a 33.8 percent increase on a year-over-year basis.
IDC said Thursday storage capacity shipped by integrated system vendors worlwide grew 63.4 percent to more than 833 petabytes during this year’s Q2 compared with the same period in 2013.
Oracle accounted for 55 percent of the Q2 integrated platforms market share and earned approximately $577 million in unit sales, according to IDC.
IBM came in second by holding a 11.1 percent market share during the same quarter, followed by Hewlett Packard and Hitachi with 1.7 percent share.
The market research firm identified VCE, a Cisco–NetApp partnership and EMC as top vendors for integrated infrastructure systems.
