DigitalGlobe and MDAÂ have combined their optical and radar satellite products to offer a common ground system for the defense and intelligence community.
Jeff Kerridge, DigitalGlobe’s senior vice president for international defense and intelligence programs, said Tuesday the collaboration is intended to help customers pull images from RADARSAT-2 earth observation satellite in near real time.
Don Osborne, group VP of information systems at MDA, said the companies want to help aid in the detection of human activity and other changes across territories, such as oil spills or other evidence needed in disaster recovery.
The companies intend to help users monitor large areas of land by using synthetic aperture radar data from RADARSAT-2 in combination with DigitalGlobe’s earth imaging satellites.
